JCB Excavators in India. Heavy Duty Power & Free Conveyor

Midland Handling Equipment Ltd has successfully installed an Overhead Trakmaster ‘406’TC Heavy Duty Power & Free Chain Conveyor at the Pune, India manufacturing plant of global excavator manufacturer JCB.

The conveyor is based on the same system installed at JCB’s Heavy Plant Facility at their Uttoxeter World Headquarters in 2008 and JCB Wrexham in 2007.

The conveyor was designed and manufactured at our Great Glen premises then shipped in containers, with the steelwork being made in India to our drawings and specification. Our engineers then travelled to India to install and commission the system and train the JCB staff fully in its operation.

The conveyor is 600ft long and incorporates two 6mtr high lift stations at the load and unload points, with a capacity of 4 ton per load bar. Excavator parts are loaded on to one of twelve 5.8mtr long load bars at the lift station  and automatically sent through a primer, top coat, oven and cooler plant before being unloaded and transferred to the production line. Every stage of the process is fully automated with touch screen HMI interface to give operators information on each product and load bar status.

This new facility allows JCB India to process more components with less manual handling and a higher quality finish.

Another Trakmaster ‘406’TC Heavy Duty, this time 1,200ft long has recently been manufactured and is currently on its way to JCB Brazil, for installation later this year.
